It's difficult to imagine an artist creating a tiny work of art with such detail and clarity that I can enlarge it this much and still her beautiful face holds together. That face is only 5/8" from her chin to her part in her hair, and her blue eyes even show a shine on the pupils. The painting would have been done from a direct sitting by this young woman. Possibly an only remaining image from an entire lifetime. I did not take this one apart to see if more info might be inside, but I see no signature, which is most often the case even when an exquisitely talented artist such as this has painted it. The portrait miniature is small, and yet I can see that the brooch at her neckline is also a portrait miniature. A few capable brushstrokes create her lace collar and her ringlets. Full measurements are noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition, without any loss nor hairlines, no breaks. Painting and frame would be 180 or more years old now. Remarkably fine painting, and a museum quality miniature.
