This stunning and very well preserved large panel of woven wool and silk yarns would have originally been made as the backrest to a large French settee, sofa. It's not always possible to pinpoint, but I think it would be from the Beauvais Manufactory, late 1700s. Possibly an Aubusson or Gobelin from same era. The workmanship is superb and the condition is, as well. The floral and ribbon woven outer frame and dark royal blue outer border, superb palette makes superb to decorate with. It has a woven border trim, but would be wonderful as a framed headboard, a long bolster pillow for bed, or as a wall hanging. I've shown it resting atop a long slipper bench at foot of a queen bed, too, knowing you might have that in mind for this elegant old treasure. Lots of photos to show it well, but it's much more gorgeous in person.

Very good to excellent condition for age and type, it has had very slight professional restoration where even the slightest open warp of age has appeared, and without any backing, you can see the original colors of yarn to note that there is very little fading. Four water fowl and a leaping hound in a marshy setting,  There are no holes. There are no areas eaten away by moth or insect at all. The yarns are fine, the work superb and tight. Supple, flexible without much risk of a split. The panel is 65" long, 27" tall as shown, with the 1.75" border. Or 61" x 24" roughly, if you remove the outer loom-woven border.
