The artist has signed these 2 elegant little paintings, but while I can see it, have shown it, I can't read it. They are a husband and wife, obvious into their own opulence with a large fur coat draped over his shoulder and she with her ermine coat or shawl draped at her elbows. Epitome of fashion in their time, c.1830s, Louis Philippe era in France, we do not know who they are. The images are sealed, still, and while I (and you) can see there is dust on the inner convex glass covers, I hadn't the heart to break the sealed backs to open up and clean them. If I change my mind (they really do need to be cleaned and photographed without the dust, don't they). The added value notable, they're in very early gutta percha frames. Valuable in their own right, they're in such fine condition, a tiny roughness to a corner being the only flaw. Measurements noted on the photos.

Very good to excellent condition, a nod to what I've already written about the sealed cover glass needing to be cleaned on the inside. Give me time, I'll likely open them up and do it - you know me. Rare fine gutta percha frames, the old convex cover glass, beautifully crafted works of art in miniature. Yes, the artist has signed, but as noted, I can't make it out.  That's another reason to open the backs, isn't it. I'll see. Found in France, of course. They are a married couple, have stayed together thus for almost 200 years, and I will not sell them separately.
