Superb Antique French Napoleon III era 12pc 9.25" dinner knife set, all with solid carved ivory handles, elegant 'MD' monograms and two matching serving pieces! That's a 14pc set in total, the twelve large dinner knives and the two matching serving pieces including meat carving knife & fork. An elegant old set, solid genuine carved ivory handles with engraved & enamel or lac filled "MD" monograms. The original steel blades with 'Cardeilhac' marks on all. Of course, you get a bit of the corrosion & tarnish with the original steel blades (not stainless) but they really are, in my opinion, nicer when original. All kept in the original fitted storage or presentation box though it is quite aged looking and the set really is deserving of a more opulent case....a fabulous addition for a large chest of antique French silver flatware, don't miss them!
Very good condition. As noted, the blades are original and do have some age tarnish, rust or corrosion in places. No damage that I can see to the ivory handles though there may be a small age or drying crack here & there. The box is aged in appearance but intact. See pictures for measurements.
