Beautiful & rare matched pair of antique continental bisque or biscuit porcelain figures, colorful hand painted decoration with either cigar or spill and match holding fixtures and immense decorative appeal! I just found these this past weekend and am not quite sure what they're meant to hold. The 'packs' or fixtures on the figures' backs are perfectly sized to hold cheroots or cigars though they could easily be fireplace mantle spill holders! No makers marks though they really have a French look to them, HEAVY bisque porcelain (each weighs over 2 lbs). Perfect grouped with Sevres porcelain pieces or as a colorful pair of mantel figures!
Good condition. There are a few restorations and one of the cigar/spill rings on the woman fixture has broken and is missing. Restorations include work to the woman's left hand & possibly her neck, the man's neck, nose and part of his hat rim (he's also holding a handle, likely to a sickle missing its blade). One or two tiny nips on the bases but no large chips or cracks. The restorations are professional, very well done. See pictures for measurements.
