I had this magnificent pre-Victorian era intaglio hand-pulled print professionally framed, protective glazing (cover glass) years ago. It's been hanging in my other home along with accents of Black Forest carvings. Signed "London - 1834 - J. McCormack. The artist is well-listed, and his work is in collection of The National Portrait Gallery, London, and also the V&A Museum collection, London. He is the artist or producer (printer/publisher) of several portraits of Queen Victorian in her early years. In the era, there is a Count John McCormick, subject of painting by Lavery, and it's possible he's the J. McCormick noted here. The actual process of creating this image and to print it is an art on its own, and all the decorator mags are showing walls of framed antique intaglio and stone litho prints - I love the look and have it at home. Perhaps I was ahead of my time in the choices? The full measurements are noted on the photos. I have priced it only at the custom framing value - I really must downsize!
Very good to excellent condition throughout, one tiny nip to gadroon row on frame, and the print is superb. Nearly 200 years old, printed by hand upon laid 100% cotton rag handmade paper, as well.
