Wonderful antique French Belle Epoque era 13 3/4" tall souvenir plaque with detailed version of the main alter at the "Chapelle Et Chasse De Ste. Therese De L'Enfant Jesus", the Basilica Shrine of Saint Therese of Lisieux in silver plated brass bas relief with easel stand and music box on the back! The Carmel of Lisieux chapel was built in the 1840s, and enlarged in 1923 to accommodate relics of Saint Teresa during her Beatification, and to respond to the influx of pilgrims coming to pray and venerate her. The tomb of Saint Teresa is in the chapel. Thérèse of Lisieux; born Marie Françoise-Thérèse Martin; 2 January 1873 – 30 September 1897, also known as Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face (Thérèse de l'Enfant Jésus et de la Sainte Face), was a French Catholic Discalced Carmelite nun who is widely venerated in modern times. She is popularly known in English as the Little Flower of Jesus, or simply the Little Flower, and in French as la petite Thérèse ("little Thérèse"). This plaque showing her body that stands displayed in a reliquary, millions of pilgrims journey there each ear to spend time in prayer & reflection.
Very good to excellent condition. Some wear to the silver plating, with the brass beneath evident in some areas. No chips or damage to the wooden plaque and the music box does work.
