"Sarah Melmoth, Obit April 7 1837 A? ? 27" then a name that is hidden by a ribbon slider for choker, but death date, "Ob April 22, 1838, ? ? 23", so 2 persons mourned in this stunning 14k gold mourning jewelry. Each lock of hair has a gold monogram for their first name, and they are husband and wife**.  I wish I had the personal story of this one. But Perhaps someone will search genealogy to learn more.  The former brooch has been adapted to slide onto a silk ribbon or velvet ribbon and worn as a choker, note it's set sideways, so possibly worn on a hanging ribbon, instead. One of my favorites! 5.54 grams of 14k to 15k gold, total weight given. Larger in size at 34 mm x 29 mm x 5 mm depth.

NOTE: ** Sarah (House) Melmoth (died 1837)

Born about  [uncertain] in Melcombe Horsey, Dorset, England

Sarah House marriage to George Melmoth in Durweston, Dorset, England.

Died about [uncertain] ?? 29 in Durweston, Dorset, England
Married George Melmoth (G initial)

Very good to excellent ocndiiotn for age and type, dent to the back and an alteration from brooch to 'medal or choker' display to be worn on a black ribbon. There is a dent on the back side, as shown, but not a single flaw on the front or any sides. Beautiful clear beveled cover glass and perfectly preserved hair locks with karat gold initials of the first names. Engraved on back, dated 1838 so 1 year into Victoria's reign.
