Quite rare antique French Louis XVIII to Charles X era 18k gold on 1819-1838 hallmarked sterling silver "vermeil" & sold mother of pearl handled knife in the original shaped green leatherette carrying case or etui!  Back in Georgian times, it was quite common for a person to bring their own flatware or utensils along with them that this would be just such a piece.  Surely belonging to a well off traveller, the craftsmanship and materials as opulent as can be.  All of the metal, blade included, are in sterling silver.  The hallmarks on the blade date it between  1819-1838 when the Michel-Ange or Michelangelo profile was used in France and the tiny number "1" in the lower right corner of that mark means it's .950 silver (95% pure and so just above the .925 standard for "sterling" silver).  I have not been able to locate a reference to the silversmith mark as of yet but will add if or when I do.  The fact that this piece retains the original shaped leatherette case and that both are in wonderful condition means they were well cared for as is evidenced in the images.

Very good to excellent condition.  Very faint wear or fading to the gold plating but no nicks, bends, damage or repair.  Some small surface marks to the green case but both clasps are intact and, to be honest, it's pristine given its age.  See pictures for all measurements.
