In really excellent condition, this is a c. 1900 hand carved Swiss Black Forest souvenir or devotional item. The theme of the cross, vine climbing it and below a stylized nest with flying bird give it great appeal. It's technically a holy font, though one wouldn't put water in the wood without a glass or tin inset. It might well have been used as a stand for a rosary, and would be beautiful used that way now. Very good to excellent condition throughout. It's amazing to me that this item with slender leaves, wings, tail and beak is so free of loss, chips, breaks. Very nicely preserved! Photos show it well for your review.
