Remarkably fine c.1890-1920 Swiss Black Forest carved box, 14" long glove box (typical size/shape) which remains in superb condition inside, and has only 2 flaws notable to the carved wood exterior. Beautiful pair of pheasants carved in fine Animalier manner up top and all-over decoration carving.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, I can point out 3 flaws: 1, front left side corner of lid has a slender 1" long chip, 2. another is a missing trim piece to the right side top, and 3. a restoration to the leaf tips behind the pair of pheasants - each noted in detail photos. The box is very special and displays beautifully, even with the small flaws. The birds, long tail feathers, legs - no damage. Interior is incredibly fine, no stain or odor, silk satin is without any flaw or wear. There is a working lock but we do not have a working key at listing time.
