Fine antique French Napoleon III or Victorian era 11 7/8” desk, document or gloves box, an elegant casket with book or page matched kingwood marquetry style veneers and brass or bronze edging! The interior with the original pale pink lining in the lid and sides of the base, the cream colored moire silk in the bottom is a later replacement. Nothing overly frilly here, no boulle inlays, no mother of pearl, just that elegant diamond pattern in kingwood on the lid and undeniable French Napoleon III visual appeal.
Very good condition. There is one tiny ding type hole in the veneer on the left side of the lid, visible in the images. The inner linings are aged and show staining and some holes & thread bare areas. As noted, the moire silk in the base is a replacement/restoration. All original hardware and lock but missing the key.
