Fabulous antique French Napoleon III or Victorian era heavy brass or gilded bronze 9" tall candlestick or candle holder PAIR with regal lion passant style figures, bronze patinated scrolling handles and bobeche and both in wonderful condition! The first impression is just the overall detail and beauty of the pair, lion figures with front paws on a shield shaped fixture, the bronze patinated handles with the appearance of almost being wings. Then you pick them up and are impressed by the weight, each weighing just over 3 lbs! No markings that I can see and, unfortunately, we don't have a way to test short of scratching the surfaces but they're most likely in old French gilded bronze though possible brass. An exceptional pair, enjoy!
Very good condition. The upper removable bobeche might be a little bent and there is, of course, some age related patination and/or tarnish but no bends, breaks or repairs to note. See images for all measurements.
