A charming accent item for your guest room or master suite, this bedside 'bonne nuit', is quite literally a 'good night' water service complete with undertray, stoppered decanter and upturned timbale or drinking glass. The set is c. 1850-70, a Napoleon III era set with hand enameled floral garlands in decoration. Many of the old Bonne Nuit sets have an insert that goes into the neck of the large decanter, and which is a small decanter for liqueur or a 'night cap' drink. This is not that type and does not have the liqueur inset. Just for water, or whatever drink you wish to put inside, I suppose.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, no chips or cracks to note. Mild loss to the applied gold enamel from use and perhaps a little loss to floral garlands, though certainly very little. It remains a really lovely set.
