This superb and supple undamaged pair of 2 Chinoise silk embroidery (like needlepoint but in heavy silk yarns) pair just beg to be made up into lushly fringed and down-filled decorator pillows. The silk yarns are thick, super-soft, and clean. The themes are as wonderful as is the silk. The exotic Far East, and fanciful, as well. I'd pretty well bet they're late 1700s, but I'll say early 1800s just to be conservative. You are buying 2 panels, one slightly smaller than the other. I purchased the pair in Paris. I find French aspects to the outer design, but possible they are not of French origin. Superb Chinoiserie scenes.

Very good to excellent condition, supple and strong. I would have no reservation in using them as pillow tops. There are no holes, no tears, no deteriorated silk - must be owing to the yarns being thick - almost like finer wool. Sort of a double-overstitch in a needlepoint-like manner, and not a bit of odor. One is slightly smaller than the other, as noted. Measurements can be found directly on our photos. I've kept this pair for many years, intending to make them up myself, but I have maybe 50 more and only 2 houses, so admitting it's never going to happen. Your gain.
