Offering an exceptionally fine c.1820 Palais Royal mother of pearl needle case, likely a salvaged item from an elaborate Palais Royal sewing box (we have a good selection of complete sewing boxes if you want the entire set - sold separately). This needle case might be a perfect fit for your sewing box which has lost its original. Or perhaps just this little jewel of a sewing item will thrill you all on its own. Full measurements are noted on the photos. NOTE: you're buying only the needle case. Shown on period French silk embroideries which are not part of the offering.

Excellent condition for age and type, this one has survived in finer condition than most any we've ever found, and does not have a single flaw to note. No chips, no damage to the inset or tongue, which is often chipped. As if it's never been used at all. The trim band and the little Palais Royal enameled pansy medallion are each 18k gold and flower is kiln-fired enamel, very tiny imperfection - nothing you'll see with naked eye and not greatly enlarged.
