Superb condition on this one, inside and out. The fine old cigar case would have been made in a time when cheroot or small cigars were tucked into beautiful cases and tucked into a vest pocket or a purse - yes, women smoked them, too. This one appears to have never been put to use at all, likely a souvenir kept or perhaps a valued gift. The moire silk interior is excellent, as new. You can see the sides are compartmented, one with a flap that opens to reveal a match striker pad and pocket for matches. The side baffles are fine leather and are complete. The 5" x 2.5" case is over an inch in depth when empty, and can expand to 2", enough to hold 6 cigars within. Note the length, small Davidoffs will fit, or Churchill. A great idea for a gift! Alternatively, these are also so fun as cases for spectacles, reading glasses, or even to use as an evening purse or clutch. Yes, I used to use these that way, credit card and business cards on one side, a car key fob on the other - perfect conversation starter at meetings back when I worked for Paramount, Inc. But I digress.
Very good to excellent condition throughout. Beautiful coloration to the large panels of mother of pearl. No chips, no cracks, no flaws. The interior, likewise, excellent throughout. Original 19th century white piping edges the claret-red moire silk lining. Tan leather baffles are not damaged. Measurements are noted on the photos.
