Fantastic & RARE miniature, child's or salesman's sample sized antique Swiss Black Forest hand carved 25.5" tall parlor chair with marquetry inlaid medallions featuring deer & chamois or mountain goat figures, pierced or reticulated back with edelweiss AND working pressure activated music box! I've had a few nearly identical full-sized chairs in the past but have NEVER seen a miniature like this! All of the wonderful hand carved detail but a fraction of the size. About right for a young child, but perfect now as a decorative piece and definitely one for the collectors. I can't be certain but the first thought I had when I saw it is that it must be a salesman's sample with the exceptional detail but smaller size. In any event, very rare! A music box mounted inside the seat portion, a steel spring keeps the actual seat surface raised just a bit so when someone sits or it's pressed down, the music box begins to play. There's also an aged paper label on the bottom though it's nearly entirely illegible, save for "Alps" and "No." in green. Marvelous, don't miss it!
Very good to excellent condition. Some scratches and scuffs to the seat surface but, as you can see, the piece is in overall fabulous shape! See pictures for all measurements.
