Very rare to find, this is a pristine Napoleon era (Georgian era) plaited hair and 18k gold ring, large - a "Souvenir" or memento mourning ring (2 3/8" inner circumference). Dates to c.1800-1830, and kept without wearing from the condition of it, which is superb. A rich chocolate brunette, obviously a young person without a bit of gray. One considers it might have been a gift from a bride to her betrothed, but as likely made from a plaiting of hair from a young woman who was lost to childbirth or illness. No way to know its story. Full measurements noted on the photos. The boxes and other items shown are not included, just give a color background for nicer photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, as you can see, a dark chocolate/coffee brunette hair with no gray in it. The 18k gold sheath that completes the ring is a special Palais Royal kiln-fired enamel work of goldsmith's mastery, and it is also excellent for age and type, larger than most of these and perfectly preserved.
