The sweetest little mop headed baby ever!  All those out of control curls and those blue, blue eyes, it's a tiny painting, frame is just 1 7/8" and is a pendant locket with bale, to be worn or hung in display. Early Victorian, slightly off-shoulder gown with blue bows at the shoulder, his pink cheeks and cupid-bow mouth show confidence as the little lord of the manor. All we know is he is called "Harry", and perhaps the writing above notes an address, a family name. There is not an artist's signature on the delicately worked wafer. The talent is immense, feels a little Impressionist on this one. Gouache on wafer. Came to me from an anonymous collection out of France.

Very good to excellent, the baby is captured in such a sweet pastel palette of innocence. The wafer is perfect, no loss. Protected under original (now clean) convex cover glass in a 1/4" deep locket-style frame with a pendant-like bale up top. The frame is brass, not karat gold. I've shown all of the bits that fill the 1/4", just padding so that thick velvet-covered backing fits where the 4 tiny 'nails' can hold it all together. Measurements in full are noted on the photos. It feels strange to look at these blown-up images, knowing the artist could do work so delicate it bears the larger view, but in the hand, this is the daintiest little treasure ever! None sweeter!
