An early 1800s tall chair back upholstery, excellent condition with armorials and animals, eagles or falcons, crest and typical French colors and stylized florals and forms we've all grown to love. Excellent gros point needlepoint with brilliant wool yarns. Someone has made it up with a heavy linen backing to use as a wall hanging. It would make up as a wonderful pair of pillows - such an easy transformation and elegant fringes and heavy silk or velvet would be fabulous. Photos show details and accurate measurements.
Very good to excellent condition throughout, the yarns are not faded and not deteriorated. Chair backs take less wear or stretching from weight, and they always survive much better. Again, would have been a large and tall chair, the panel is 31" x 19.5", and surely some fold-back around perimeter if taken from backing. The black edging is a thick braid. Hang as art just as it is.
