Wonderful antique early to mid 1800s French 4pc writer's set in the original fitted box, implements with carved solid mother of pearl and decorated with silver plate crowned eagle & cross of Lorraine or "Croix de Lorraine"! The majority of each piece is solid, shimmering mother of pearl with steel tips or fittings on the paper knife & pen, the handle ends featuring a crowned eagle and a Cross of Lorraine or “Croix de Lorraine”. A space in the box shows that one piece has gone missing over the set's 100 or so years, likely a letter opener or page turner. The remaining four are simply gorgeous though!
Very good to excellent condition, age considered. As mentioned, there is one missing in what would have originally been a five piece set. Some wear to the likely silver plate on the bronze fittings so the gold color showing through but I see no chips or damage to the mother of pearl. The box also in great shape with a burgundy exterior, gilt embossed accenting and original inner linings. See images for all measurements.
