Charming little donkey cart mounted on a plinth of alabaster, stable (not rolling) wheels and loads of charm. Carries a pristine and original cut glass inkwell, clean and undamaged. I've always loved these little trinkets that are animal drawn carts or carriages, fitted with sewing tools, or scent bottles, or in this case, an inkwell. Final photo shows a grouping with earlier ones dating to earliest 1800s and fit with opaline, mother of pearl - little whimsical carriages serving as watch holders, desk trays and etc., - you might want to add more to a collection on your desk or a tabletop. Full measurements noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. No chips nor cracks on alabaster plinth nor inkwell. The pressed brass donkey and carriage framework remain complete and tight, still with the 4 pins forming their attachment to the alabaster plinth. Charming!
