Elegant antique French Napoleon III or Victorian to early Edwardian era 10 5/8" jewelry, specimen or desk box with gorgeous rosewood veneers, boulle style brass inlaid exterior and fitted interior with lift-out tray and working lock with key! We have always just loved these wonderful antique boxes as I'm sure you all know. Fabulous decorative accents always and visual reminders that things weren't always mass manufactured. Having been in the antiques business for over 25 years, I am sometimes surprised at how rarely we find and/or offer something exactly like an item we'd offered in the past. Makes our job of photographing and listing thousands of one-of-a-kinds more difficult but truly refreshing when you see the same of everything when shopping the box stores today. Very good to excellent condition. There's a little 'nick' to the rim of the box just above and to the right of the key/escutcheon. No veneer or inlay losses or damage. The red velvet liner on the inner tray is likely a later replacement and there is no little swivel clasp to keep the folder in the lid closed securely. See images for all measurements.
