Delightful antique 19th century French Napoleon III era Palais Royal style figural liqueur & cordial stand or caddy with charming elephant sculptural figure and blown glass spirit barrel & cups! Whimsical circus style white metal (not spelter) elephant with a gilded finish and ornate 'ruffled' bronze ormolu blanket saddle or pannier supporting the blown spirit barrel on his back, wire hooks holding the mug style cups around the sides! Very French, judging from the sculpture and style of the ormolu work...just the wonderful little piece you'd find at the shops in the Grand Palais. Don't you just love the little winged griffin figures on the top handle!  We've had several of these over the years, ranging in figures from the ever popular Blackamoor, horse drawn carriages and even mules (we're actually adding a great mule themed one today). A fantastic decorative display piece!

Very good condition. The barrel and spigot work fine, this one even has the small glass stopper on top. No damage to the elephant figure other than a small portion of the tip of his trunk broken off. The elephant and attached circular plinth are all one casting, not separate like we more often see and both have remnants of a gilded finish. There are possibly one or two tiny rim chips to the cups. All, barrel and cups, have raised white enamel decoration but a cup or two may possibly be a replacement and not exact match. See pictures for all measurements.
