I've always loved throw pillows with tapestry fragments. I'll be adding a lot of them from the warehouse this week - ones I've made over the decades as we changed decor in bedrooms, etc., and some I'd bought made up by some others. Long ago, I bought this sofa pillow along with several others, made from salvaged needlework panel. A charming c.1850-70s English Victorian to Edwardian panel with a needlepoint embroidery stitches, Gros point, in wool. A cotton velvet backing was used, surrounding the old needlework with French fringe passementerie trim. The pillow form inside is feather and down, a zipper back reveals it's clean and vintage. I loved this one decades ago and there are a few others made by that same designer that have the matching palette. Great for sofa or bed. You can see in final images how it can look in mix-match with some of the others I'll be listing for sale separately. Look for more and group some. We're really just trying to clear space, and typically these little decorator pillows from antique fragments go fast, particularly at very low prices we're setting.
Very good to excellent condition on this one. No odors, no holes, the old panel shows age, just as you want it to, but no damage. Really quite beautiful - great palette of colors. The velvet fabric is used on back, and the needlework panel sewn in full, nice sized at 15.5" in diameter. I used to pay a lot for pillows, velvets and trims (if I made them) - still do if/when I get the urge to redecorate. Now the panels I use are all much older, much pricier, and these need to find new homes. Full measurements noted on the photos.
