Circa early to mid-1800s, this charming old bit of clay turned art form is what we all lovingly refer to as simply 'Old Paris', - the pieces from such porcelain names as Sevres, Vincennes, others whose works were not always signed, and yet have a very distinctive form and look to them and can only be noted by the reference to the style and age. Old Paris pieces can be from the most heralded of makers, of course, and we certainly see the evidence of such in this fine hand painted piece. She's in rare fine form, as well, with only the loss of a finger for her very advanced age. The basket of porcelain flowers she holds are amazingly unscathed by time, and what at first might appear as a damaged lace bonnet is actually entirely intact, and only the style that has a narrowed front, elongated back. A certain blush to her cheeks, a lovely retiscent and demure pose, she seems perfect to hold just a few little French rosebuds there in that open cup. Interestingly, the rounded urn or vase is also just the size for a large boiled egg - could this have been part of a large breakfast service? I can think of no better way to present a humble egg than with this beautiful piece, can you? Lots of photos to show her off, and nice ones at that. I'm very pleased with our photographers' work - I hope you enjoy our presentation!

Very good to excellent with only the tiny flaw of a finger lost to the years. No signature, but one might anticipate Sevres, Vincennes, very early Limoges or other noted house as maker. But we're content to call her 'Old Paris', indeed!
