A mid-1800s silk velvet and leather cigar case (cheroot case) which now doubles as a gorgeous spectacles case, it has gold embossment on the emerald green velvet and an inset of needlework, floral motif. As you can see, the leather inner sleeve and over-sleeve each have a pleated baffle allowing a good width inside. The leather sleeve holds cigars, spectacles, or perhaps your evening necessities (like an evening clutch or purse), and slides into the elegant silk cover. I've rarely seen one in this fine condition. Full measurements are noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, it would appear this 170 year old (give or take 10 years) was never even used. Perhaps it was a special gift, tucked away. We only buy the very best for you. The leather is excellent, highest quality, no damage. Typically, silk velvet of this age, if used, will lose its nap here or there, and this one is just superb (see photos, both sides), super soft. No odors, if meant to hold cheroots, it has no evidence at all of having been used. Interior is cloth and clean.
