Cabin, hunter's lodge, den, or even bathroom with rolled towels - you'll have the perfect decorator's idea for this c.1880-1910 Black Forest 4-tier rack. The real antlers are sized and then tightly anchored to the upright-hanging back plaques. While I'm quite sure these were originally rifle racks, I know decorators have used them in a number of ways, including clothes or hat racks, towel holders (roll the towels) to name a few. Found this pair in France some time ago. Full measurements noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. The plaques are beautifully crafted in hard old oak, the outline in a bevel. All antlers are complete and unbroken, very tightly affixed and seem remarkably strong - as one would expect for a rifle rack. No damage to the boards, either. Just a wonderful pair.
