A beautiful set, very nicely preserved considering all are carved mother of pearl: scissors, thimble, large needle case, in a carry etui sized to tuck into a purse. Bands and trim of 18k gold, the scissors and thimble each with the Palais Royal cachet medallion of 18k gold with kiln-fired enamel pansy or flower. Even the old case is beautiful and well-preserved. Very good to excellent condition on all pieces, with a single tiny notation - on backside of scissor's handles, I see a flaw up top where it joins the blade - do you see? I've had others with a tiny flaw someone has touched with what looks to me like a pearl resin, or maybe pearl nail enamel. Just pointing out it's there, but the handles are firm. Just be careful if you intend to use them. Mother of pearl is always so fragile, it's amazing any of these survive this well. The set is shown with embroideries and alongside some other period sewing sets - this is for ambiance in shopping, and to give size and comparable items. Aren't they all just so beautiful.
