Fantastic & rare antique Victorian era Swiss Black Forest hand carved decorative jewelry or desk casket, a magnificent box with gird & foliate animalier style sculpture on top, large scorlled cabriole style feet/legs and rare armorial themed crest or medallion! Just in from Europe and I just fell in love with it. One of the hazards of this profession, wanting to keep every treasure you find but, sigh, that's how it goes. I can at least enjoy it until it finds its proper loving home. The detail of the carving is highly detailed and extensive. Exquisite! I hope the images show how impressive it is so, peruse and enjoy!
Very good condition. A small chip or two to the bird figural top but no large chips, cracks, etc. There is an ever-so-subtle gap evident between the bottom of the lid and box. This one also unique in that it has no lock... The interior has been re-lined with a tan or beige moire style fabric (not silk). See images for all measurements.
