Another true "gem" portrait, these c.1700s miniatures are all quite tiny. This one is a painting on wafer only 1 5/8" x 1 3/8" oval. It might well be the only image ever made of this charming woman, so stylish in her time. Unusual to have the sealed backside fully intact as in this one, and the framer's still attached in full. We do not have her Identity, but putting her in her era based on fashion and hair is simple, as she is c.1750-70s - Louis XV to XVI era. Pre-American Revolution era, she is French. Full measurements are noted on the photos.
Very good condition for age and type, well-preserved beneath the original convex cover glass and in the original wood period frame which remains with original sealed back and framer's label intact. Measurements are noted on the photos. No signature and sadly, no ID.
