British listed artist, Albert Williams, (1922-2010) was born in Sussex, England. His father and grandfather were his first teachers, and later he would study under artist Louis Ginnett and at the Brighton College of Art. "Albert Williams" is the signature of the artist of this superb oil painting. It's a very accomplished rendering, paining, and is done on 1/4" thick board so all the more sturdy and damage resistant. We haven't a date here, but based on the wood plank it's painted on, I'd say c.1940s-50s. Likewise, the frame is mid-10th century.  I'm not so crazy about this frame choice, and would love to see this painting with a dark and elegant wood frame, but we'll leave that to its next owner. I've removed it from the frame for a photo of it on its own. Enlarged the details so you can see what spectacular hounds they truly are. The field scene is exceptional, as well. One expects a fox or pheasant to appear just off-frame.  All measurements are noted on the photos.

Very good to excellent condition throughout, and not too long before it's antique, is it. As noted, the frame is a semi-mundane mid-1900s wooden one, a couple of filet added at aperture. It's not my favorite. The painting, however, is just magnificent. I can tell you to look to the outer edges of that painting/wood panel, and you'll see rubs created by the frame. Other than that, there isn't a flaw to note. I always love paintings on wood panel, as the paint is far more perfect, and no holes or canvas tears to restore. You'll decide if a far nicer frame will be done. Superb work of art and I found it in France!
