Charming antique French Palais Royal style miniature park bench with equestrian or horse riding cap is a sewing thimble holder, in tole painted ormolu or brass and mounted on a white alabaster plinth. Quite unique, we all recognize the Palais Royal style with the gilt ormolu or brass on the white alabaster base, this one though featuring a cold or tole painted rider’s cap that opens with the thimble nestled inside. Wonderful! The old Palais Royal, Paris, is there still, still a center of commerce, theater, dining, but in its origin it was the Palace of Cardinal Richelieu, and afterward because THE center for Royals and elites to shop, congregate socially. The items from the boutiques of the old Palais Royal remain museum pieces, highly sought after. Perfect for the Palais Royal sewing or thimble enthusiasts.
Very good condition. Possible slight bend or two to the ormolu or brass chair framework but, as you can see, there are no breaks, notable damage or repairs to note. I don’t even see any chips to the white alabaster base. See pictures for all measurements.
