A beautiful green-eyed blond boy, young man, c.1810, I think, but he could be as early as c.1790. One can fairly count on him being a student during the student uprisings, and yet his haircut might be considered the Royalist 'guillotine cut' or 'Titus', which was a fashion sported by those whose family or leaders met the guillotine in The Terror, c.1770s. Blonds aren't often found. These frames date that early and aspects of his dress and hair rests him well into that 20 year period. Painted in gouache on thin wafer, typical of the genre, there are really no flaws to report on this exquisite find. Alas, it is unsigned.
Very good to excellent condition throughout. Treasured well, or vaulted or a museum piece, based on the fine condition of both frame, cover glass and painting. The measurements are noted on our photos, but that beautiful boy's face? Only about 5/8" from chin to spiked hair. The miniatures fascinate me. I've long been a collector.
