Fine antique Victorian era carte d’visits sized photo album with ornate embossed or tooled leather cover, gilded bronze strap claps and 24 double sided gilt embossed thick card pages! Not something we’ve really had all too often in the past. To be completely honest, when we find these we picture ourselves having the inner pages hollowed out to make really fabulous ‘hidden treasure’ boxes similar to those great old French ‘antique leather bound book liquor tantalus’ pieces but never seem to find the time. Anyway, always an idea. As you see it, this one has 24 pages and each can hold two photos (one on each side). Use it as a gorgeous old Victorian photo album or fulfill our original intentions and turn it into a secret box. This one with an inner front page marked “The Photographic Album” and maker Miller & Burlock of Philadelphia and also a stamp for “Elizabeth Comly”, presumably the original owner. Wonderful either way and one of several that we’re adding this week so be sure to browse some while you’re with us. Thanks!
Very good condition. Some scuffs to the brown leather, evidenced in the images and some discoloration to the inner card pages. Clasps fully intact and work fine. See pictures for measurements.
