Sweet innocence in the beautiful wide-set eyes, slight down-tilt of her head, this girl (center hair part = girl) must be 4-6 years of age. The gouache painting on wafer is an original work of art, perfectly preserved under glass in its original metal frame with a copper-looking patina of age. The surrounding and complete halo of French paste gems are crisply cut and brilliant, very nice. Tiny 'palm of the hand' treasure, she dates to Charles X era, c. 1820s-30s. Full measurements noted on the photos.

Very good to excellent condition for age and type, no missing paste gems, though I think 2 might have been replacements - very slightly 'off'. You won't notice in display. The frame, itself, is a valuable antique, and a beautiful presentation for this exquisite and rare child's portrait. Together, an elegant little gem - both easel and hanging loop back. I do not see a signature on the painting, but did not open to see if there might be additional notations, sometimes an ID in pencil on back, or artist name or initials. When glass is clean, I don't take chances in opening these up. Fragile little works of fine art!
