Just in from France, a fine 19th century cabinetry door or wall paneling section, architectural or furniture salvage in Neo-renaissance aesthetic. The curls and acanthus, and deeply carved urn of fruit to the top, this large 21 3/4" x 16 3/4" hand carved panel is ready to build into your own paneling or cabinetry, to make into the door to a recessed wine storage cabinet, perhaps, or bathroom cabinet - you'll know the perfect way to put it to use. Some simply hang these as art, to elegant ways to personalize your home.
Very good to excellent for age and type. Large, deep bas relief hand carved panel does not have a single chip in all that carved surface. I believe it is oak from the grain. I see no hairlines to the panel, and, from backside, it is one solid slab rather than joined boards. One can see the panel was built into an outer frame at one time, a narrow edge line visible from varnish.
