Gorgeous pair of antique French early-mid 1800s gilt gesso on wood picture frames, flower & foliate accenting and each holding marvelous portrait miniature style intaglio brings of 17th to 18th century royals: Duchesse de Brissac Gabrielle Louise de St. Simon c.1684 and Comtesse d' Armagnac Catherine de Neufville-Villeroy c. 1707! The prints are not original to the frames but don't they look fantastic together! The frames the real treasure here, beautiful OLD pieces and ready to hang. One of two pairs that we're adding this week so be sure to also take a look at the others while you're with us. Over the years, we've acquired quite a few superb old prints and truly exceptional picture frames in all sizes and will be working at getting them listed...hopefully in the near future.
Very good condition, age considered. As noted, the prints are not original to the frames. There is some wear to the gilding and a bit of chipping here and there, our images are large and clear so you will get what you see. You can see from the backs that they've been used for a few different things over the years, old (likely original) blue paper, tan paper over and now the newer wood panel backs to hold the prints and glass.
