The larger size of this stand makes it perfect to do the simple conversion to an electric lamp, which I've done with several over the years. Large sturdy base and beautifully carved pair of birds in forest foliage have survived incredibly well for age, would be gorgeous as a table or accent lamp. I'll add a photo at the end to show how these look when made up - just a suggestion. It would have been 1 of a pair of epergne stands originally, carved to match and accent a large clock, and displayed with glass vase/flute. They make fabulous candlesticks, particularly in a cluster of them. I'll show some set up on a Christmas table. The one you're buying here is 11" tall, birds are about life-sized and are wonderful anatomical Animalier movement sculptures. Full measurements noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. A couple of very tiny nips to ends of leaves where the wood is carved very thin. The birds are gorgeous, looks like no losses there but perhaps a tiny nip to the tail of the smaller one, and maybe tip of beak, or that beak has been worked on, blunted. All in all, one of the nicest ever.
