Antique early 1800s, likely Russian, carved bone prisoner of war style 4.5" table snuff box with pyrographic or lac filled incised decoration including scene with horses and carriage! Remarkable condition given its age, this very similar in style to old Napoleonic prisoner of war pieces that we've had the pleasure to offer of the years. This one solid bone, you can tell because of the striations visible (mostly on the sides). Wonderful and rare piece and the condition is truly superb.
Very good to excellent condition. No age warping, chips or damage that I can see. The interior does have a bit of age darkening but hinge is strong and the lid closes flat and securely. There is a split visible in the bottom panel but we think that's original as was when made. See images for all measurements.
