Fabulous antique French Napoleon III or Victorian era gilt bronze framed jewel or desk casket with Renaissance style hand painted & kiln-fired convex enamel panels on all sides including a lovely mascaron or grotesque style figural top! A lovely little treasure, this one measures just under 3.5" wide but packs all the visual appeal one might hope for. Renaissance style scrolls in white & grey set against jet black enamel on all panels, you can also see faint scrolling tendrils in a gold enamel accenting. A fabulous find, don't miss this little treasure chest!
Very good to excellent condition. A bit of wear to the gilding on the bronze framework and, as noted, there is fading to the gold enamel accenting on the panels. No cracks, chips or damage that I can see to any of the panels though. The interior base has the original tufted silk or satin lining, quite age tattered by now, but there is no lining on the lid.
