Time to sell a lot of our 'this and that' spare items - I'll be listing loads of them in weeks ahead. The things we set aside in deference to more fabulous or valuable antiques just owing to time constraints. Amazing how that relegated 'this and that' has multiplied over time! This one is a Georgian Era or later 18th century scent or perfume etui in fine old shagreen (belly leather from stingray), and the outer case is beautifully preserved. Within, 2 original scent or perfume bottles, flasks, flacon remain, though not quite complete. No stoppers, but still has its 18k gold caps, and what remains is unbroken.
Good condition with age and type considered. First off, the etui is in moderate to good condition for these very old ones, though it is not excellent. Shown from all angles, you see there are numerous imperfections, and the vendor from whom I purchased several of these has 'touched up' the shagreen where surface of the very thin and fine leather has gone missing. As noted, bottles are unbroken, no stoppers and there remains each of the original French 18k gold caps. This is a project one, or one to part out. Closing all of my projects out!
