Impressive size and appeal, this 39 mm x 30 mm x 5-6 mm micro mosaic plaque is mounted in a generous and elaborate 14k gold booth mount which is 54 mm x 42 mm and 10 mm depth with the mosaic in place. As you can see from the final photo, large in size and a stunning collection piece. Total weight is 19.14 grams and I'm not able to determine the weight of the glass micro mosaic plaque apart from that. Full measurements also appear on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, the gold is substantial on this one. If I had a loose micro mosaic of similar size it would be easier to estimate the gold weight with more accuracy. I've weighed a loose mosaic plaque that is about 1/3 of the size, and 3 times that weight is 8.5 grams, leaving approximately 11.64 grams for the gold mount. I can't guarantee my estimate is totally accurate, but it'd be close. For condition, the gold mount is excellent, no damage such as bends or crimps. The fine old micro mosaic has no missing nor disrupted tesserae, smooth as can be, all in place. I can see from only a certain angle of light just the faintest hint of tight hairline from the backside black basin into which the mosaic has been worked, and a little crack from the top or face at around 10 pm position. You can examine those on our huge and clear photos. Neither of those tiny imperfections are noticeable to the naked eye as you wear or display this oversized brooch, however. A real beauty!
