Charming petit chair-form pocket watch holder with mother of pearl shell pocket and leaf adornments, likely originally a trinket from the boutiques of the old Palais Royal, Paris. A souvenir of someone's visit to Paris, either a dignitary, or a Grand Tour tourist wanting to take home sweet little mementos of what was then Paris. Measurements noted on our photos, but this one is petit, 4.5" tall.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. I don't fine any nips, chips, hairlines nor cracks on the pearl pieces, and the entire wire-worked and pressed brass ormolu framework is undamaged and has a lovely appeal and patina, both. The pocket watch hook is fully intact. The little chair is a "vide poche" (literally: empty pocket) which was a French staple, really - bedside stand into which the contents of pocket (coins) and one's jewelry were deposited for the night, and the pocket watch becomes a clock for the night. Isn't is just darling!
