Napoleon III era writer's case filled with tools. Pens, drafting tools, pencils and rulers, a bottle for ink, drawing supplies. Well cared for and repaired in leather at the big folds, it displays beautifully. Leather outer, black, hunter green leather on inner fold-over flaps that protect the pens and pencils. It's been a case that has given much service and has been taken care of. Nicely preserved and rich with usable tools. An artist's box, most likely. The clasp has a slide-down opener and it's working perfectly. While it appears it may have once had a key, it isn't locked and we do not have a key. Full measurements noted on the photos.
Very good condition for age and type, well used but also cared for. There are 2 fold-over strips of neatly cut matching leather that reinforce the folds (see images) and look almost like they were part of the original, but I think preservation by the artist who used it long and well. Lots of tools within. All pictured go with the set. It's filled to the brim, makes a fabulous display piece, or begs to be used for another century of active creativity. Light foxing at fold edges, see images, but really the leather is very nice as well. A great set - movie set kind of charm.
