Fine antique French late 1700s to earliest 1800s Georgian era desk top paperweight in a unique style white with steel accents & handle and floral petit-point under glass! We've seen boxes and such in this white finish with steel accents and several have referred to them as Russian or Russian style though weâre not certain if this is actually originated from there. We're pretty sure it's of French origins, very early. A bit rough around the egdes but a wonderful desk top decorative accent for the inkwell & writing accoutrement collectors.
Good condition, age, etc. considered. There were likely steel bands at the narrow sides as there are on the longer sides of the top. There is a spit in the wood near each handle mount. The piece is in wood and has some sort of weight inside. There is some chipping around the edges of the glass inset. See pictures for measurements.
