Superb, large antique Victorian or Napoleon III era carved solid ivory wax seal or sceau with unique gilt ormolu & blue glass matrix and kept in what appears to be the original box! An elegant desk top writer's tool, the handle of this one in solid genuine carved or turned ivory with a rather large 1" diameter at its widest. The matrix quite alluring, in a deep blue glass with what looks like a "DD" monogram incised in the tip. Rare and wonderful, don't miss it.
Very good condition. The seal handle does have two tiny hairline cracks where the matrix is joined but no other damage that I can see. The box, although it appears original, may not be, is in fine condition with some wear to the orange velvet nap at the edges. See pictures for all measurements.
