Fine antique Napoleon III or Victorian era 9 1/4" writer's stationery box, a Gothic style treasure chest in rosewood veneers with gilt bronze reticulated strap accents and wonderful visual & decorative appeal! A bit aged and missing the interior stationery slots or fittings but the exterior is quite attractive. One of two similarly shaped stationery boxes that we're listing today, this one more visually impressive with the Gothic styling but the other a bit older we'd say and in beautifully burled walnut veneers. Both wonderful desk or writing table top decorative accents.
Very good condition, age & materials considered. As mentioned above, the interior fittings are missing, it would originally have had slots for stationery, etc. A few faint cracks in the rosewood veneers and a bit of chipping to the base corners. A small section of the brass strip accent is missing from the left side of the lid. It does have a working lock with old skeleton key. See images for all measurements.
