An old beauty, this type of French portrait miniature or early photo frame is my favorite and the kind I use for our own family photos. The one offered here has my favorite wood mat (some like these have silk covered mats and are very pricey and popular, too). A superb example, it's likely 2nd Empire, Napoleon III in age (c.1840-70) from the time when all things Napoleon and Empire were once again in vogue. Easel or hanging loop back gives versatility. The flat glass is in place, measurements noted on the photos.
very good to excellent condition, I find no real flaws to note. Nothing missing in all that dore bronze appliqué and a nice patina of age which we did not polish. Wood is very nice, with just the right amount of age hairlines to elevate its aesthetic to that of heirloom. No breaks, however. Superb in display!
